Verantel and Lead Docket

Lead Docket and Verantel do different jobs. Lead Docket is intake and lead-management software: it holds each lead's record, gives your staff intake scripts, and tracks each lead until it signs. Verantel is an intake interviewer: it talks with the person who reaches your firm and writes up the matter for your attorneys.

How they differ

Lead Docket starts after someone has talked with the client. Its features page names no agent that converses with prospective clients. It takes in leads from web forms and from outside services such as ApexChat, Ngage, Intaker, and Smith.ai, and it gives your staff scripts to follow on the phone.

Verantel is that conversation. It asks one question at a time, in plain language and in the client's own language. It asks the next question when an answer points to a deadline, a claim against a government body, or evidence that may disappear. Verantel is not a lawyer and gives no legal advice.

Lead Docket's AI reads the lead. Verantel's writes up the matter. LeadsAI, announced in 2023, summarizes the lead, the messages between your staff and the client, and the notes. It predicts whether to sign, refer out, or reject the lead; at launch, that prediction covered motor vehicle accident cases only. Verantel's record lists the facts grouped by topic, each linked to the lines the client wrote. It also names each legal matter with its practice area and state, the people and organizations involved, and how well the matter fits your firm.

When each one fits

  • Lead Docket fits a firm with intake staff and many leads to track from first contact to signed case, and especially a firm that runs Filevine.
  • Verantel fits a firm that wants every prospective client interviewed at any hour, in their own language, with a written record waiting before anyone at the firm picks up the phone.

They don't replace each other. Verantel doesn't track a lead to a signed case, and it has no connection to Lead Docket today.
