Verantel and Clio Grow

Clio Grow is Clio's intake and client-relationship software. Since August 2026, its Grow AI agents can also answer prospective clients by phone, email, and web chat. Verantel is an intake interviewer: it talks with the person who reaches your firm and writes up the matter for your attorneys, with each fact tied to the client's own words.

How they differ

Grow AI aims at the booked consultation. Verantel aims at the written record. Clio describes Grow AI as screening, scoring, and booking leads. Verantel interviews the client until it has what your attorneys need, then writes up the matter: the facts grouped by topic, each linked to the lines the client wrote, each legal matter with its practice area and state, the people and organizations involved, and how well the matter fits your firm.

Grow AI answers the phone. Verantel doesn't. Verantel works in a chat on the web. A firm that wants an AI voice on its phone line needs another tool for that.

Clio Grow lives inside Clio. Verantel can run on your own server. A firm on Clio gets Grow AI next to its matters, billing, and documents. Verantel can run on a server your firm runs, so prospective clients' conversations stay on your firm's own server.

Grow AI is new. Clio launched it in August 2026, and the legal-technology site LawSites reported its features from Clio's announcement without seeing the product. We describe it here as Clio does.

When each one fits

  • Clio Grow fits a firm already on Clio that wants AI to answer every channel, screen and score leads, and book consultations.
  • Verantel fits a firm that wants a careful interview and a written record of each matter, with every fact traced to the client's words, in any practice-management setup, or on its own server.
